Amy Austin's Key West Pix

Ahhh, Key West Florida. The sun, the beach, the ocean breezes, the fruity drinks, the delicious food made even better because it's inspected by the USDA...truly paradise. I think the trauma of Mexico may finally be behind me. Although, I will never go back, mind you. This picture was taken on a sailboat that we took to go snorkeling out in the ocean.
Here's the Husband! Joel strikes a pose at the Southernmost point in the continental United States of America...only 90 miles from Cuba. We took this picture after waiting in a line filled with tourists from a recently docked cruise ship, and I can proudly say that Joel was the only male NOT wearing black socks and shorts. See dear, we aren't that old!!
During our trip the Powerboat races were held. I used to watch these with my Dad when we lived on Key Biscayne in Florida and they'd race from Sundays Bar . Here's one of the Powerboats, sponsored by a local Key West bar called Sloppy Joe's. These huge boats were sooo loud, even more so when they buzzed by very close. It was awesome, even if we now can't hear anything anymore...
This is the interior of one of the Powerboats. This thing is so powerful it could pull Chris Farley out of the ocean and up onto skis in a split second! Yeppers, on the ocean, these boats rule. Now, if you see an older male driving one of these huge things on one of our Texas lakes, then you know he's suffering from T.P.S. (Tiny "Peeper" Syndrome). There is no need for a boat that big on a lake, dude!
This was a sign in front of a store on the Harbor Walk. The low-res photo is hard to read, but the different signs post the distance in miles to various other islands and beaches. My goal is to visit each and every one of them, starting with a return trip to Nassau, Bahamas and the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort! November 2001, baby!
One final shot from the docks at the Harbor, we saw these two boats parked side by side and thought "How appropriate: Quitcherbitchen next to Patience". Kinda sums up marriage in two boat names, doesn't it? Be sure and check the other page on amyaustin.net (link below) for Pix from my CanCun trip with my friend Stacy, and visit www.amyaustin.com for pictures from our annual ski trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado!
